Alena is a graphic designer at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. She is an experienced Graphic Designer with a demonstrated history of working in print production and hospitality industry. Alena is skilled in photography, logo design, advertising, typography, and Adobe Creative Suite.
A professional writer, reporter and communicator, Amy is the Founder and Chief Creator at Written by Amy. She began her career as a writer at a local TV station and went on to work in radio, newspaper and magazine. She is a graduate of the Bachelor of Journalism program at Ryerson University and has a Bachelor of Mass Communications from Carleton University.
Amy is also an Ontario Newspaper Award-nominated journalist, after going on assignment to an orphanage in the Philippines. She has been a reporter at the St. Catharines’ Standard, Barrie Examiner, Orillia Packet and Times and Novae Res Urbis, and has been published in Time Magazine, Today’s Parent and The Globe and Mail.
Entrepreneur and building visionary, Brian Prudham is a Waterloo Region native deeply committed to the growth, sustainability and prosperity of his hometown. After graduating in 1999 with a Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the Department of Geography, Brian pursued his passion in community-building through a post-graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
He began to invest in real estate, redeveloping student residences and owning/operating affordable housing properties in the region. This civic-minded drive to contribute to a more complete, sustainable community would become a consistent theme in Brian’s development projects. In 2007, Brian made development his main focus, co-founding Momentum Developments. Just one year later, he built a condominium project called The 42.
Derek is the Development and Project Manager for Zenterra Developments, an award winning company that specializes in ground oriented townhomes and low-rise communities. Developing and building in various municipalities around Metro Vancouver, Derek has overseen a portfolio of over $500 million that has been bought and sold in the local market place.
As an active member of the Urban Development Institute, Derek works alongside organizations including the Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (Competition Committee) and the Surrey Board of Trade (Transportation Committee). He is also engaged with local post-secondary institutions such as the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Ed Sajecki is partner and co-founder of Sajecki Planning. He is known for his work as the Commissioner of Planning and Building for the City of Mississauga where he had overall responsibility to provide professional advice on matters of planning policy, development applications, and building construction. Ed is now also a Senior Advisor with Strategy Corporation, providing strategic counsel to the leadership of organizations across Canada and internationally.
Ed is a former Assistant Deputy Minister with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing of the Province of Ontario, responsible for land use planning, building and housing. He previously served as Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development for the former Cities of Etobicoke and York, General Manager of Planning & Development (Eastern Canada) for CN Real Estate, and as General Manager of Development and Infrastructure for the City of Burlington.
John Stepheson is a founding and past managing partner of FORM Architecture Engineering in Thunder Bay, now Form Studio Architects Inc. John has over 40 years’ experience as an architect. Prior to his current practice, he was an architect with Kuch Stephenson Gibson Malo Architects, Kuch Stephenson Architects and Graham Bacon Welter Architects & Consulting Engineer.
Throughout John’s career he has maintained an almost continuous involvement in the Ontario Association of Architects in a variety of volunteer capacities including the OAA Practice Committee, OAA Council, as co-chair of the Interns Forum, Vice President of Communications, Senior Vice President and Treasurer and President of the Association for two years. John now serves as Immediate Past President on Council for 2019.

Leslie Woo is Chief Planning and Development Officer at Metrolinx, the regional transportation authority for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, the fastest growing urban region in Canada. Leslie is the executive lead for transportation planning, a multi-billion dollar real estate portfolio and a $35B expansion in public transit infrastructure. Leslie was named Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2017, Spacing Toronto's Transit Change-maker of 2016, and Canada's Women's Infrastructure Network's 2015 Outstanding Leader.
Leslie is the creator of the blog shebuildcities.org celebrating women city builders around the world. Leslie received a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo where she also studied Urban and Regional Planning.
Michael Presutti is the founding principal and Project Director of MEP Design Inc. Michael is involved with a number of projects ranging from Public Park Improvement projects, Urban Design Revitalization Studies, detailed design of new infill residential development projects in Toronto, to the site planning of corporate office and industrial parks. Michael has also completed international design and consulting assignments in Beijing and Dalian, People’s Republic of China; and has been involved with hospitality projects in Cairo, Egypt and Amman, Jordan.
As a practicing Landscape Architect since 1996, his experience includes involvement with both public and private sector clients, which allows him to fully understand the pragmatic and aesthetic considerations of various agency approvals.
