His research and consulting focus on Housing and Land markets, as well as municipal finance and policy tools that are related to the building and development industry.

After graduating with a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2002, Paul Attwood began his career in Toronto at one of the leading residential marketing advertising agencies in Canada. After three years, returned to Southwestern Ontario, which I had always considered home. Taking the GTA mentality to marketing real estate and adapting it to the South Western Ontario marketplace, his early experiences played a major role in the shift in home builder merchandising, marketing and advertising in Southwestern Ontario. Paul believes his analytical and strategic approach to product development and positioning, equips the design team with the information and action plan needed to develop a solution with a clear and concise message.
Martin Baron - BES, BArch, LEED AP, OAA, MRAIC
Martin has been practicing architecture for over 30 years, and in 2019 started the firm Baron Nelson Architects Inc. with Jason Nelson.
Martin has been responsible for many influential and award winning residential and institutional projects, forging new ground in condominium design, large-scale wood construction, digital project delivery, prefabricated modular construction, and low-carbon strategies.
Martin is continuing to innovate with BNA with an even greater emphasis on the use of digital technologies to bridge the gap between vision and realization. Martin has received over a dozen high-profile design awards including five OAA Design Excellence Awards and is a Certified Passive House Designer.
Heidi Blau, FAIA, LEED AP, is a Partner and member of the Management Committee at FXCollaborative, a New York City-based architecture, interiors, and planning design firm. Her practice is focused on creating healthy and inspiring places to live, work, and learn.
She has led large and complex teams for a range of housing, cultural, and educational projects including a new home for Covenant House New York, a co-living community called The Webster Apartments, and the YMCA at the mixed-income, mixed-use development La Central; and for institutions such as Columbia University, Barnard College, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Heidi prioritizes a culture of collaboration, collegiality, and respect, and is an advocate for equity, inclusion, and mentorship.
She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and has served on AIA New York’s Professional Practice Committee, Honors and Awards Committee, and the Nominating Committee for the chapter. She is a member of the AIA College of Fellows and is on the advisory committee for the TORCH Mentorship program for emerging professionals. Heidi is a long-standing member of the CREW Network (Commercial Real Estate Women), was an adjunct professor at New York University and has been recognized as a leading female practitioner by the Women Builders Council and Professional Women in Construction.
Gord Bontje is a founding partner of Laebon Homes located in Red Deer, AB. Since 1976, Laebon has been creating homes and communities that embody a commitment to craftsmanship, design and innovation building more than 4,000 homes all over Central Alberta.
Gord is plays an active role in the building and development industry through its associations and regulatory agencies.
He has served as a Director, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and President of the Central Alberta Home Builders Association. On the provincial level, as Director, Vice President and President of the Canadian Home Builders Association – Alberta. In 2018, he was honoured with the first Icon Award from BILD-Central Alberta.
He has served in leadership positions with the Alberta New Home Warranty Program, the Safety Codes Council, Alberta Housing Industry Technical Committee. He currently sits as a Director of the UDI Red Deer Chapter and specialist committees.
Scott Brown is President & CEO of Fifth Avenue Real Estate Marketing Limited located in Surrey, BC.
Scott directly oversees the growth and success of the project marketing, sales, and operations teams responsible for delivering sales success. Throughout his 30 years of work experience, Scott has formed and led teams that have set sales records in North America and Asia. He has consistently provided high-quality strategic advisory services and expanded his marketing and sales strategy creation.
Scott is actively involved in the development of the Marketing and Sales program for each project. He is also personally involved in ensuring that Fifth Avenue has the most professional and dedicated sales representation in the market by leveraging his vast high-performance sales coaching knowledge and expertise.
Previously, Scott served as a founding partner and Senior Vice President of Colliers International’s Residential Project Marketing Group. Prior to that, Scott served as Chief Sales Officer at Kor Real Estate where he oversaw the startup and global expansion of Kor Real Estate’s project marketing firm. Paul Cameron has over 25 years of experience across a wide spectrum of product types.
Paul joined Birchwood Properties, located in Calgary AB, in 2010 and today leads the internal design team. Birchwood’s collaborative approach to design creates sensible solutions that emphasize form, function, style and value. Paul is a long-time volunteer and an active member of the CHBA-Calgary Region’s Inner City Builder’s Council and the City of Calgary’s Land Use Bylaw Sustainment Advisory Committee.

The office consists of a principal Director, Joseph Campitelli, a Certified member of the Ontario Association of Architects and a team of employees who provide architectural consulting services which focus on: residential design and development, commercial, retail and interior designs. Architect, Joseph Campitelli has combined his years of experience with an ambition to provide personal service and to strive for architectural excellence. The Canadian Office was established in 2004, and together with a team of professionals have unified their diverse talents and years of broad training to strengthen their role and responsibility within the industry.
As Vice President, Commercial for Rohit Group of Companies, Russell is responsible for leading the design, planning development and property management of the residential, retail and office portfolio in both urban and suburban development. His innovative direction is at the helm of Rohit’s trailblazing projects like Stadium Yards in downtown Edmonton. He is also involved with project acquisitions, new product development, community consultation, and the review of future housing markets that present opportunities for building operations. Russell brings with him over 30 years of planning experience in Alberta from a wide variety of public and private settings.
Russell received his education at the Regional and Urban Planning Program, University of Saskatchewan. For his outstanding contribution to the industry he received the 2014 Spirit of UDI & 2012 Klaus Springer Award (CHBA) and Award of Merit, AACIP. Russell has also served as a Director with AACIP (Alberta Association Canadian Institute of Planners) and President of UDI Alberta (Urban Development Institute).
Graham Ferrier is Kilograph's COO and Founder/Principal of Ferrier Architecture Studio. Both firms are located in Los Angeles, CA.
Architect founded, Kilograph, is interested in communicating design vision for real estate marketing in new and exciting ways. Kilograph is a certified WBE, SBE, LSBE with the state of California, County of Los Angeles, and Metro.
Michael Jacobson is the Director of Product Development for the Homes by Avi Group of Companies; an award winning new home builder and land developer, operating in Calgary, Edmonton, and Austin, Texas. In his Product Development role, he is responsible for evaluating land opportunities, the design of new housing product, and overseeing the production of ongoing customer files for HBA’s single and multi-family divisions.
After graduating from UBC in 1997, Michael worked for architectural offices in Vancouver and Calgary, focusing on single family, multi-family, and mixed-use projects. In 2003, Michael joined Homes by Avi in Calgary. Currently Michael is involved with BILD Calgary as a member of the Student Design Competition Committee, and the Inner City Advisory Committee.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Studies from the University of Lethbridge and a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of British Columbia.
Zak Kostyna is a professional home-builder, engineer and aspiring designer with a passion for people, business and architecture. He has spent the last 15+ years as an owner/operator at Northern Sky Developments, where he has been responsible for creative direction, general management and oversight of all business operations for ongoing projects. Zak has served as a CHBA Awards judge several times in the past and is eager to continue doing so in the future.
Northern Sky is a nationally-recognized, award-winning, Saskatoon-based team of architectural, project management and design professionals with a passion for timber homes, natural features, modern styles and state-of-the-art construction practices. Modest materials and creative construction methods are at the heart of Zak's ideology. He is excited to continue pushing onward into the future with these values.
Francis Lapointe - Dipl. Arch. Tech, B.Arch., M.Arch. II, OAA, MRAIC, LEED® AP, C.E.T.
Francis Lapointe is the principal of Lapointe Architects. He formed the practice in 2001 with a focus on sustainable building technologies, materials and construction methods. Francis’ design portfolio presents a broad range of building projects that demonstrate thoughtful transformation of space, responsiveness to environmental and enduring value. An example of this is the Fifthtown Artisan Cheese Company’s manufacturing facility in Prince Edward County, North America’s first LEED Platinum industrial building. Another ambitious eco-friendly project is the redevelopment of the Wawa Waterfront in Northern Ontario. Francis has presented his work at several architectural and sustainability conferences across Canada and guest-lectured at Ryerson and OCAD. Since 2010, Francis has been teaching in the Sustainable Architecture program at Centennial College.
Paul Lowes (MES, MCIP, RPP) is a principal at SGL Planning in Toronto and is OPPI's President-Elect.
Paul began his career as a policy planner with the City of Etobicoke, and has since provided policy and land use assistance to a broad range of municipalities and development clients. His practice focuses on large scale policy matters for municipalities as well as for policy related development approvals.
Paul is regularly retained by municipalities to undertake official plan reviews, secondary plans, commercial policy studies, natural heritage policy studies, zoning bylaw reviews and other conformity exercises. He is also retained by the private sector for large scale development and redevelopment projects. Paul often leads large multidisciplinary consulting teams on these projects.
Michael Marsland-Root is the owner and creative director of Red Five Creative, a marketing advertising agency which has garnered several Georgie Awards.
As a unique marketer and graphic designer, Michael has a business development and marketing background combined with strong graphic design skills and training. He uniquely understand the needs of both the sales team and the end consumer.
Rick Martins is the Vice President of Huron Creek Developments. Rick is actively involved in the industry's leadership including serving as the Immediate Past President for Brantford HBA, and as the 2018-2019 OHBA President.

Deanne Millington is the Marketing Manager for an award-winning, Canadian Developer: Infinity Properties located in Langley, BC. Deanne oversees Infinity’s brand and executes marketing strategies on both a corporate level and for individual projects. She enjoys thinking of new, out-of-the-box ideas to promote project sales and Infinity as a whole.
She holds an MBA from Royal Roads University and is currently working to obtain her Real Estate License at the University of British Columbia. Deanne sits on the Board of Directors for the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association and volunteers on HAVAN’s Marketing & Communications Committee. Deanne was born and raised in BC, where she still resides today.
Boyd Neil spent nearly 20 years as a senior executive with Canada’s leading public relations and public affairs firm (H+K Strategies), and a total of 40 years as communications strategist with various agencies, arts journalist and speechwriter. Boyd began his career writing theatre and dance criticism and features on the arts for major publications in Canada and the U.K. (for which he was awarded the Nathan Cohen Award for Theatre Criticism). He went on to head the national corporate communications practice at H+K Strategies, then took on the role of building its national social media and digital practice.
Boyd holds B.A., M.A. (Drama) and M.B.A degrees from the University of Toronto, currently teaches social media, CSR and business consulting in Humber College’s Faculty of Media & Creative Arts. He has been a director on the Board of Bridgepoint Health Foundation and chaired the joint foundation/hospital communications committee. He is currently on the board of the Toronto Fringe Festival and Necessary Angel Theatre Company.

BRIAN PHILLIPS - FAIA, LEED AP
Brian Phillips is founding Principal and creative director of ISA, a design and research office engaged with projects in cities across the U.S. ISA has leveraged the opportunities and challenges of its home city to drive a busy, innovative, and thought-leading practice that takes on the complex context of the post-industrial American city. The firm designs buildings, master plans, installations, and conversations that address changing climates, lifestyles, technologies, and urban environments.
Brian earned his MArch from the University of Pennsylvania and BS from the University of Oklahoma. He has lectured widely on urbanism, housing, and the work of ISA. The firm's work has been featured in ARCHITECT, Architectural Record, DWELL, Metropolis, The Boston Globe, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Times, and on NPR Radio. ISA has won over fifty local, regional, and national design citations, including four AIA National Housing Awards. Brian was awarded a 2011 Pew Fellowship in the Arts and was named an Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York in 2015. He is a Lecturer at PennDesign at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches a graduate urban housing studio.
Michael Presutti is the founding principal and Project Director of MEP Design Inc. Michael is involved with a number of projects ranging from Public Park Improvement projects, Urban Design Revitalization Studies, detailed design of new infill residential development projects in Toronto, to the site planning of corporate office and industrial parks. Michael has also completed international design and consulting assignments in Beijing and Dalian, People’s Republic of China; and has been involved with hospitality projects in Cairo, Egypt and Amman, Jordan.
As a practicing Landscape Architect since 1996, his experience includes involvement with both public and private sector clients, which allows him to fully understand the pragmatic and aesthetic considerations of various agency approvals.
Entrepreneur and building visionary, Brian Prudham is a Waterloo Region native deeply committed to the growth, sustainability and prosperity of his hometown. After graduating in 1999 with a Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the Department of Geography, Brian pursued his passion in community-building through a post-graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
He began to invest in real estate, redeveloping student residences and owning/operating affordable housing properties in the region. This civic-minded drive to contribute to a more complete, sustainable community would become a consistent theme in Brian’s development projects. In 2007, Brian made development his main focus, co-founding Momentum Developments. Just one year later, he built a condominium project called The 42.

Ed Sajecki is partner and co-founder of Sajecki Planning. He is known for his work as the Commissioner of Planning and Building for the City of Mississauga where he had overall responsibility to provide professional advice on matters of planning policy, development applications, and building construction. Ed is now also a Senior Advisor with Strategy Corporation, providing strategic counsel to the leadership of organizations across Canada and internationally.
Ed is a former Assistant Deputy Minister with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing of the Province of Ontario, responsible for land use planning, building and housing. He previously served as Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development for the former Cities of Etobicoke and York, General Manager of Planning & Development (Eastern Canada) for CN Real Estate, and as General Manager of Development and Infrastructure for the City of Burlington.
